About Us

Led by habit psychologists and scientists from Harvard, Stanford Medical School, Yale, and the University of Washington, Habit Design is the fastest way to create new habits, guaranteed. Founded by Michael Kim and Dr. Maria Elena Lara, Habit Design quickly gained attention after breakthrough results showing that new healthy habits could be accelerated 11-times faster than the previous clinical standard, thus making it faster, easier, and cheaper to reach our health goals. Over 100,000 clients have applied Habit Design to create over 1 million daily healthy habits lasting at least a year.

Unlike self-described habit “gurus” or self-help authors, all of our evidence-based methods have been published in peer-reviewed journals. As a result, we’re proud to have received the Innovation of the Year Award from the American College of Cardiology and the first (and only) research grant in the field of habit coaching from the National Institutes of Health ($2 million Small Business Innovation Research Fast Track), the world’s largest biomedical investor.

And, unlike most health programs that offer generic health coaching, our certified, licensed, clinical psychologists are authorized to provide real clinical psychotherapy across 42 states under PSYPACT, a national interstate agreement. This means you’re not just getting a health coach, you’re getting medically recognized clinical care backed by state licensure, decades of clinical research, and the highest professional standards in psychology. Why does this matter? While others offer automated messages and coaching scripts, Habit Design delivers evidence-based habit training grounded in clinical psychology, tailored by real doctors who understand how behavior change actually sticks.

Habit Design is based in Issaquah, WA, outside Seattle. Contact us at admin@habitdesign.com or call (650)485-3648.
